So here we are. I started my food and crafts blog. Hurra. It is an exciting journey. If you like to follow my travails starting a blog, click here. You will also find tips and tricks which will be updated as my blog develops.
I am Suzanne and my family and I come from Northern Germany. As we are a German-American family we incorporate a lot of old world and new world food in our cooking. We really love Tex-Mex, for example, but could never find any good restaurants over here so we started to make our own. You will find the wonderful recipes in the Tex-Mex section (once it is set up). This is actually a pattern of ours; we find food that we like when we visit relatives or travel otherwise and once we are home, we try to cook it ourselves. I also love to browse recipes in magazines or the internet and make them my own by adapting them to our tastes. One big section you will find is about what to make with left overs. If you are tired of eating the same thing day after day, but do not have a lot of money to buy new all the time, visit the Leftovers section.
We are also big fans of Italy and Italian food. Our favorite city is Florence. If you haven’t been there yet, definitely make a point to go. It so worth it. We would love to live there one day. For more on the most wonderful city in the world look at my travel section. You can also see some of our favorite places to go in Florence.
I also love to bake. I basically learned it from my grandmother. She cooked and baked very old world style, but usually much leaner. So look out for the scrumptous German Chocolate or Black Forrest cake. And I cannot wait to share all those yummy x-mas recipes. You are in for a treat – or two or three.
My other great passion is arts and crafts. I love to make things, from clothes to useful items to home decor. A lot of my needle work I learned – you probably guessed it – from my grandmother. Thank you Oma! Everything else is pretty much self-taught. Check out my latest works, like the pillows for my daughter’s balcony chairs.
All the pictures on my site are from our home and kitchen (and sometimes my daughter’s, when we cook there). They are all originals taken by us. No fakes and all of the food and crafts I and we make. That way you can see how things really turn out.
